Structural Testing

Hydraulic Power Station

The power of the computer-electro-hydraulic servo controlled structural testing system comes from the hydraulic power station (HPS). The motor-driven hydraulic pump generates high pressure oil which makes the actuator moving under the control of a servo valve to accomplish position adjusting or loading in order to perform a structure test.

Popwil designs and produces HPS with flow rate from 3L/min to 1200L/min to meet the power requirements from different structural testing system. Popwil HPS with 3L/min to 30L/min flow rate is generally designed in a compact mode, and usually used in the static or quasi-static structure testing system or the material testing machine. This kind of HPS usually has a fuel tank, a motor-pump group, an electric cabinet and an air-cooling system fixed together to form one power unit. It can be placed any convenient location in the lab with no special foundation needed.

POPWIL HPS with 30L/min to 100L/min flow rate is generally used in a quasi-dynamic structure testing system or a complex static structure testing system. A HPS with flow rate over 100L/min up to 400L/min is generally used in a fatigue testing machine, a dynamic structure testing system or a multi-degree-of-freedom seismic or motion simulation table. The flow rate of a conventional HPS do not exceed 400L/min.

When the flow rate of a HPS is over 400L/min, the accompanied bad effect is unbearable noise and heat. A special designed noise proof cabinet or room is needed in order to meet the request of normal working condition. In addition, a large cooling tower and an extra hydraulic oil cooling circuit will be needed due to large amount heat generated by the high power pump-motor.

The latest achievement of Popwil HPS is the so-called intelligent HPS. In this i-HPS, a PLC is adopted as the controller. The parameters of the HPS such as hydraulic pressure, temperature, liquid level, flow rate (some series), status of the filter etc. are all collected and displayed by the PLC and transmitted to the testing system controller through an Ethernet cable, at the same time, the PLC controller can do operation such as On/Off or High/Low pressure to the HPS or any hydraulic distributor follow the order from controller or the judgment by itself.
